DO YOU FANCY BEING A PART OF COLDSTREAM HISTORY?
The
Coldstream Guards Commemorative LIMITED EDITION Op
Herrick 11 Capstar ....
What is it?
On the completion of the Coldstream Guards Op Herrick
11
Tour of Afghanistan, ShinyCapstar will exclusively
produce a commemorative Capstar. This Capstar will be
designed over the next couple of months, with regular
updates to this page of just how the Capstar is
progressing.
That’s all well and
good, but what exactly is it?
For many years, commemorative Capstars have been
produced for special occasions and events. These
pieces contain a huge Capstar in the centre that
holds names/places for that particular event or occasion.
The rest of the picture usually depict images (normally a montage
of many images) that coincide with that particular event
or occasion.
Take a look at the images below and you can see
an example of two Capstars that I have designed
recently for the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards Sergeants’ Mess.

Image 1:
Charity Capstar
Image 2: Sergeants'
Mess Capstar
The image on the left (image 1)
is a Capstar that I produced to try and raise money for
a recent charity event. The Capstar on the right (image
2) is one that I presented to the Sergeants’ Mess
after leaving the Regiment and features names of all
members of the Sergeants’ Mess (over 200) plus every
Battle Honour the Battalion has ever earned (117). Surrounding
the Capstar are images from monumental events and
occasions that have happened during my time with the
Regiment (Northern Ireland, Queens Birthday Parade,
Bosnia, The Gulf War, Afghanistan etc). As you can
see, pieces such as these contain so much information
that make the ideal piece to commemorate the Battalion's
return from Afghanistan.
Note: the above
images are only examples of Commemorative Capstar's that
have been produced. The Coldstream Guards Op
Herrick 11 Tour of Afghanistan Commemorative Capstar
will be unique to this project and
designed from scratch - and we promise that that
this piece be something very special!
"unique
to this project and designed from scratch - and we
promise that that this piece be something very special
...."
What part do YOU
play in this commemorative Capstar?
You
are ALL invited (it doesn't matter if you are a
Coldstreamer or not, currently serve or have previously
served in the Armed Forces - absolutely everyone) to become part of Coldstream History by
having YOUR NAME (or even a family member or
friend in the Coldstream Guards) held in Coldstream
History in the Capstar. The centre of
this commemorative Capstar will feature names of
EVERY INDIVIDUAL that wishes to have their name
shown. You are also invited to submit images (but these
must be of
a Coldstream Theme) to ShinyCapstar, as some* of these
will be used for the montages surrounding the Capstar.
*Images that will be used on the Capstar will be chosen
by an independent panel of advisers.
To guarantee your name on this Commemorative Capstar,
it will cost a minimum donation of one coin – a £2
coin to be exact (£2 per name). Once your donation has been received
you will be placed on the list of those that will
feature on the Capstar. You can check that your donation
and name has been received by
clicking here. In addition to this, should you have
any images from your service in the Coldstream Guards or
of a Coldstream theme, then you can
e-mail them to us
and they ‘could’ feature on the Capstar.
"And remember
you may not
want your name on this piece but the name of another
family member ...."
All £2 donations received will be donated to the
‘Support the Coldstream Guards in Afghanistan Wristband
Appeal Fund’.
Will I be able to
purchase the Capstar on completion?
On completion, the Capstar will be available for
everyone to purchase in four sizes,
A4 (210 × 297mm),
A3 (297 × 420mm) HUGE
A2 (420 × 594mm) & SUPER HUGE
A1 (594 ×
841mm) see left for a size comparison to a normal A4
Sheet of paper. The Capstar will also be
‘PROFESSIONALLY’ printed on High Quality Kodak paper
from a very reputable source. Please note, A2 is
reccommended.
A link will be made available for everyone to purchase
their Commemorative Capstar direct from source to
hopefully avoid any other costs and discounts ‘may’ be
available for large orders (to be confirmed).
What will the
completed Commemorative Capstar cost?
Costings still have to be finalised at this stage, but
please remember that at this stage you are not
'purchasing the completed work', you are only
guaranteeing that your name will appear on the piece.
You are under no commitment to purchase a completed
piece - it is entirely your choice. A link will be
made available, and you choose whether or not to
purchase the completed produce.

What's PayPal?
PayPal is an account-based system that lets
anyone with an email address securely send and receive
online payments using their credit card, debit card or
bank account. It is the most popular way to
electronically pay for eBay auctions and it is becoming
a cheap way for merchants to accept credit cards on
their on-line storefronts instead of using a traditional
payment gateway.
You can send your donation to us by using the tool below
(this secure web-code is provided to us from PayPal).
Do you wish to cover PayPal
Charges?
You will see this question below with two choices of £2
or £2.50. PayPal make a charge for each payment
made using their secure system, because of this for each
£2 payment made via this service a charge of between
30-40p is taken from it. You have the choice below
to cover the charge by donating £2.50 or to just make a
£2 donation.
*PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS £2 PER NAME and all £2
donations received will be donated to the ‘Support the Coldstream Guards in Afghanistan Wristband
Appeal Fund’.
To make a donation via
PayPal?
1. Choose the option below (No, the charge to use
PayPal will be taken from your donation - or Yes, you
