SHINYCAPSTAR IS TO CLOSE DOWN!
Well,
it isn't yet - but it may not be too far away! Why
you may ask?
ShinyCapstar is ran by a team of dedicated researches,
graphic artists, comedians and web-gurus - well, just me
actually (yes, it's a one man show!), and when
ShinyCapstar was born I was a fully fledged member of
Her Majesty's Coldstream Regiment of Foot Guards.
That was many years ago (nearly 10) and now I have left
the Regiment after 23 years glorious service.
See, the problem is that I am now 'out of the loop' and
find it very hard to get content for the site as I am no
longer in the same location. Major Jasinski very
kindly sent me the Orlando Golf Tour Article that is now
uploaded (many thanks to you indeed) but apart from that
................. nothing.
So, here's the deal. I was planning to invest some
more time and effort into this site and hopefully
improve on the way it works, runs and also allows me to
update it (more swiftly), but I'm hardly going to do
that if I have no content. So, if you're a
Coldstreamer (Past or Present, there's no such thing as
an ex-Coldstreamer), and you're sat here thinking I have
a few images and a little article that would look good
on the site then send it to me at
admin@shinycapstar.com and I'll upload for Planet
Coldstream.
I know the site has a HUGE FOLLOWING and I can see from
the stats that there is a HUGE NUMBER of serving
Coldstreamers that view the site ................ so
give me the info - give me the images - give me some
support! If you aren't sure if the article can be
uploaded or not then see the media officer for
authorisation, or send it to me as all info/images are
vetted before they are uploaded.
In addition to this, I would like to see some 'old
stories' with images of past events. Everyone has
a story to tell and it's great to read about other
people's experiences. If you have a story and want
me to change the names (to protect identities) then I
can do that - no problem.
ALL I ASK IS FOR A LITTLE SUPPORT - FROM YOU, YES YOU
READING THIS.
After all, I would hate to think that the LARGEST and
most POPULAR COLDSTREAM GUARDS site in the WORLD is not
being fully utilised as both entertainment and as a
potential recruiting tool!

GUARDSMAN MICHAEL SWEENEY
It is with sadness that the Ministry of Defence must confirm that
Guardsman Michael Sweeney from 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards was
killed in Afghanistan on 1 April 2010.
Guardsman Sweeney died as a result of an explosion that happened in
the Babaji District of central Helmand province.
The last three and a half months saw Guardsman Sweeney deploy on the
full range of complex combat operations in the Babaji area.
As well as conducting daily patrols he was involved in the security
of Check Points near his Patrol Base.
It was whilst on patrol to one of these Check Points with a re-supply
for his comrades that Guardsman Sweeney trod on a hidden bomb which
took his life.
