HANGING THE BRICK

VICTORIA BARRACKS, WINDSOR, 2006
(if you want to know more about this tradition click here)

So,

What possesses soldiers to dress in fancy dress  - and parade around camp behind a bit of concrete?

Why do Guardsmen and Lance Corporals stock up in rotten eggs and bags of flower - waiting for this day?

Why would anyone want to throw beer all over an Officer, and then pick them up and throw 'them' at a lump of concrete?

Why would anyone want to play rugby with a cabbage?

why, oh why, OH WHY .?

Why.......... because it's 'Hanging the Brick' that's why!

This scroll is placed here to aid all of those who think that they can memorise these words, many have tried (Micky) and failed - please use it if needed!

It's that time of year again, and this year the Battalion were fortunate enough to be able to celebrate Hanging the Brick, which was held in Victoria Barracks, Windsor.

The Brick was held (and hung) by Sgt Micky (I don't need a script) Walton escorted by two fine gentlemen in the form of CQMS Lee Wragg and the Master Tailor (Rosgo).

The day was fantastic (speaking from experience) and I was lucky enough the get a few snaps of the event before everything went blurred (damn that cheap French lager!).  The most amusing story of the day was hearing of a certain person who attended the Brick visiting a colleague later that evening in hospital, the hospital porter knew where he was to go as both the gentlemen were dressed as musketeers, complete with swords, tashes and wigs!!!

Enjoy the snaps
